Swiss Academy of Marketing Science Award

Jean-Claude Biver received the “Swiss Academy of Marketing Science Award 2016” for his exemplary support of academic marketing teaching and research at Swiss universities and his commitment to spreading the idea of marketing to the public.

After graduating from HEC Lausanne, Jean-Claude Biver became acquainted with the art of watchmaking in the Vallée de Joux and started his career in the watch industry at Audemars Piguet and later at Omega. He soon made his mark in the industry by rebuilding the Blancpain and Omega brands, which are now an integral part of the Swiss watchmaking landscape. This was followed by his stroke of genius as CEO of Hublot, whose sales grew from 25 million to over 200 million within 4 years under his leadership. In 2012, he moved to the position of Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hublot and in 2014 he additionally took over the management of LVMH’s watch business, and with it the responsibility for the TAG Heuer and Zenith watch brands.

Jean-Claude Biver is not only a dazzling and unique figure in business practice. He also frequently and willingly puts his expertise and experience as a visionary brand strategist and courageous leader at the service of education at Swiss universities. First and foremost to his alma mater, the University of Lausanne, as a speaker, patron and host at the Watch Manufacture in Nyon. Jean-Claude Biver was nominated and elected by the Board of the Swiss Academy of Marketing Science.

Rigour & Relevance Research Award

For the article “Integrating Bricks with Clicks: Retailer-Level and Channel-Level Outcomes of Online-Offline Channel Integration”, published in 2015 in the highly renowned scientific journal “Journal of Retailing”, Prof. Dr. Dennis Herhausen, together with Dr. Jochen Binder, Prof. Dr. Marcus Schögel and Prof. Dr. Andreas Herrmann, receives the Rigour & Relevance Research Award 2016.

The extreme sportsman is project manager at the Institute for Marketing (IfM) at the University of St.Gallen. Prof. Dr. Dennis Herhausen was chosen by the practitioner jury, who evaluated a selection of scientific contributions in terms of their practical relevance.
